Tips for those trying to get some light out of the Betopper Pixel BeeEye mover LM0740D

DON'T PANIC.

In the 23 channel mode in the library 20-0-0-2 update the strobe channel Open setting is actually closed. To get continuous light set Strobe to RND maximum. Also the XY speed channel comes up on minimum so head movement is snail pace.

If you want to use it with control of individual pixels set the fixture to 51 Ch but patch it as 23 Ch. Then patch 7 Generic RGBW fixtures immediately following DMX wise to control the individual cells. These will activate when you pull the RGB & W channels to zero using the emitter settings on the main fixture.

  • I've rechecked and the 23ch personality in library 20.0.0.2 matches the manual we were sent in Dec 2024 for this fixture.

Focus Speed homes to DMX 0 - "fast"
Strobe homes to DMX 255 - "Light up"

So, Betopper have either changed their firmware or the manual was inaccurate.
Sadly it also seems that Betopper don't put dates or revision numbers in their manuals.

If you can find an updated manual or determine the proper ranges for these, please put in an update request with these details on the fixture library hub (https://fixture-library-hub.etcconnect.com/) and we'll make the corrections.

If there's no updated manual then the easiest is probably to make a corrected copy of it using the personality editor, and send that to us once you're happy with it.

  • This is the output display after Home All and fade up to maximum intensity. Device patched at 401. Note strobe (409) at 0 [ligting off] and speed(405) at 255 [slow]
