2 RJ45 ports usage in ETC ELEMENT?

Hi,

There are 2 RJ45 ports in ETC ELEMENT，in setup I Know the the first Ethernet (assuming IP is 10.101.1.97)is sending main signal pass thru switch to gateway , if I plug Ethernet 2 (Which is on the same switch as Ethernet 1) to second RJ45 Port (assuming IP is 10.101.1.98). Does it mean if the first Ethernet fail, the second Ethernet will take over the work of the fail one?

you can't set the two network cards to IP addresses that put them into the same subnet.
those two are meant to let you send signals to two different IP-ranges or balance the load with one protocol only going to one network card while the other card sends other protocols.

Hi Vincent,

If something in your console would fail it would be something other than the network card like the power supply unit.

Its best always to have a second control source as a backup console like another Element console or an ETCnomad.
