Read only or password protect show files?

Is it possible to make a show file read only?  Or to make it that to write over it you would need a password?  We have our house hang/patch file that keeps getting written over with other stuff and it would be nice to make it so that file could not be modified.

Thanks

  • Hello.
I and a coworker of mine found a way to change file permissions on our Eos Family console, since ours is based on windows.
Our Eos version is 2.7.0.154; our console is an Ion XE 20.
    Here is what we did:
    - File>Exit to the main screen (where no shows are loaded).
    - Go to Settings.
    - Click the folder icon / browse button next to ShowArchive. It opened windows explorer.
    - Right click on the folder(s) you want to protect and go to "properties." You can make folders and put files in them from either the windows explorer or Eos's Settings>Maintenance>File Manager.
    - Under the security tab, click the edit button under the list of users.
    - From here, you can deny permissions to write (as well as other things, but I imagine you probably just want to deny write permissions). NOTE: We denied permissions for ONLY "Authenticated Users" and "Users" -- NOT Administrators or SYSTEM.
    - Then we opened our protected show data, made a change, and clicked save
    - The save failed!
We tried to save files into our protected folder, as well as files that were already in the folder. Those failed as expected.
We saved a file in the protected folder as a new file out to another folder, and that succeeded.

We tried editing permissions on individual files, but that did not protect them like we wanted.

Of course, someone could go back into the file permissions and undo the "deny", but at least this way protected files can't accidentally be written over.
    Hope this helps!
