SD Card Data Overriding Board Data

Hello,

At my school, we have a Smartfade 2496 lighting console in our drama studio, and on that console we have 21 default mems for people to use if they are not given an SD card. However, whenever someone loads an ASC show onto the console, it overrides the original data. How can this problem be solved without having to reload the default mems with a card every time?

  • When loading a show from the SD card, SmartFade intentionally replaces everything currently on the console with data from the card. That way there aren't any conflicts when the show being loaded has different values stored in those same mems. On some of our more advanced consoles there are options for selecting which parts of the showfile you want to load, but with SmartFade the only options are to load just the patch, or to load everything.

The approach you're already using is the best way to manage this: keep a copy of the default show handy so you can reload it after a more advanced user does their own thing.

(...or after a less advanced user accidentally deletes parts of your default show.)
