I have a question about the DP8K rack. Is it possible to use DMX to RJ45 adapters straight out of the front of the rack and use CAT6E to send the DMX signal instead of DMX cable. Our money men have been on our asses about cost and it is cheaper to buy a spool of CAT6E instead of renting a bunch of 100ft DMX cables. Will the DP8000 send the signal just the same? We don't have additional nodes otherwise I would be using ARTNET. Is this even possible?
If you are using the Cat6 for true DMX and just using the Cat6 as the transport (not a TCP/IP network) then yes it will be fine. The DP8000 doesn't know what type of cable. Just be sure to use proper DMX to RJ45 adaptors as there are multiple pinouts out there.
