[QUOTE=Leggy;62923]I'm assuming this means the artnet output mirrors the physical output on the widget, or can the artnet output be additional universes i.e. a total of eight universes per super widget?
Jonathan,
Each widget device can either output DMX OR Artnet. So 1 port widget is 1 universes DMX or Artnet 1 Super Widget is 4 universes DMx or 4 Universes Artnet
It might be worth noting the increase you will get in rental from a production company for having Hog4 vs 3 is a whopping zero $0 :(
Doesn't mean we won't buy them though. You getting the Nano? I'm probably going to wait to upgrade the software till after this show but I'll definitely play around with it.
Depends what I'll get trading in my wings to try and get Nano.
No internal UPS!!!! Which is a great advantage I think. I prefer to have a real UPS for my FoH Stuff, incl all switches, DP etc....
LightConverse is very easy to use and the results are also very good. The GUI is not that "good" looking like other visualizers, but who cares, i care for the results, and they are really really good. Also getting live-video into it is very easy.
what is the noise level of each board? the hog3 console was really silent with no fans. during shows i could only hear the humming of the harddisk (so this sound is not there anymore...). are these boards built the same way? okay, the nano is depending on the choice of pc.
[QUOTE=jsteel;62952]totaly agree about the ups was nice though knowing if you did power down that the os still had a chance to shut down properly.
The H4 system is so much faster now with SSD and new Linux version etc. that the chance of corrupting data due to power loss is extremely minimal.
Also if there is a strange lock-up of some sort, you don't have to wait for the battery to die before you can restart....which is also now extremely fast. On H4 it goes from totally cold (no power) to launched into a showfile and ready to go in less than 45 sec.!!.
Not sure where I'd put this in a chart, but I just noticed that the H4 and FB have the main playback buttons to the right of the fader bank while the RH and Nano have the main playback buttons to the left. If you use the main playback buttons (many people don't) it will be a bit of an adjustment to go back and forth between models, muscle memory being what it is. This is a bit of a drag over the H3 line where at least the layout from model to model was identical.
