Updating H4 Software On A Working Show

Just saw that a new version of H4 just came out today.

Thanks for the update, but I do have to ask if it is advised to update to a new software build in the middle of a working show? And I ask this only because the last version is running perfectly stable playback wise.

  • Jeff,
It has always been advised not to do this, especially on the day of the release. That's not to that none of us have ever done it. If you were to do it, obviously you should back up all your files externally and I would also wait a few days or more to insure there is no major issues.
  • Thanks Scott,

That's what I figured as I never updated mid show on the 3. But since things are so new and the future features are pretty exciting, I figured I'd ask. Bummer is that this show goes until Aug. Maybe when I finally get rid of my FB3 and pick up a FB4 I can give the updates a try with the old version as a parallel desk just incase.

    Thanks for the reply.
  • I always check what is new in the release.
This time there are no new features, only bug-fixes.
If this bugs are not concerning me, i keep the old version. Or if in the very early state of programming i swop to the new. When the show is already running I stay with the version on which the show was created.
