Install issue

Hi Jon, can you try using one of the burning programs from the link below and use the red USB stick that came with the console instead of a CD to do the update and see if you get better results?

Bit of an update here.

I unplugged all USB devices (hard drive, thumb drive, wireless mouse) and it went right into it. I am going to try this some more and eliminate one at a time and see if I can narrow it down.

On the 3rd party software, I played around with that for just a little bit this morning, and found that it was not so user friendly for a Mac. I need to play with it a bit more, but each time I downloaded it, it said it was PC only. And this was supposedly for the Mac version!

Looks like it was the wireless receiver that was doing it. I was able to get it to upload by unplugging the wireless device, AND pressing and holding the enter key. Just pressing enter didn't seem to do it, but pressing and holding worked.

Was the wireless plugged into the USB 3.0 ports?
I have sometimes seen a usb keyboard pause the ISO if plugged into the USB 3.0 port, but I am still tring to prove this!

It was plugged into the ports on the back. I'll play around with it a bit more tomorrow and try it in the ports in the arm rest and tray and see if that makes a difference.

Don't worry, I'll do my best to try and break this one in odd ways too!

Update....

Looks like it was the wireless transmitter (Logitech M570) that was the issue. Moving things around to various USB ports had no effect. Once I removed the wireless, it would proceed to update the software.

I still had to press and hold ENTER for it to work. Just pressing enter once would not work. Is that as designed?

No you should not have to hold enter while performing the ISO.
Did you have anything else plugged into the desk while performing the ISO?
Did this occur on all consoles you upgraded or jsut one desk?

After a little more testing....

I think what I am seeing is the delay between pushing enter and the desk actually doing anything. I timed it and it got up to 12 seconds from the time I pressed enter and the time the desk did something. It *seems* to take longer the more I have plugged into it (USB hard drive, USB stick).

What was originally throwing me off was the wireless transmitter. With that plugged in, nothing was happening.

Slightly related to that....when updating via USB, I am able to leave the wireless transmitter plugged in. It works just fine. It is only the CD method that locks up that way.

Jon, I also wanted to mention here the Mac solution for creating a USB stick is Unetbootin.

As you can see in the Hog 4 OS manual using Unetbootin on Mac is not as straight forward as using Linux Live on PC.
