command keys question

hey there,
i`m playing around with the command keys for the first time and have one question.

can i flash cuelists (via command keys) that are not assigned to faders?

for example:
-create a HTP cuelist which has a group of fixtures at full.
-create a command key for that list
-put the command key action to flash
so far everything fine...
-remove the cuelist from the fader ( keep it in the list directory )
-flash is not working any more...

wouldn`t that be a great way to " save " faders ?!

any ideas? workarounds? or am i missing something here?

thanx-dennis

  • I believe what I have described here is not a workaround but rather a solution. When a flash key is set to its default option which is flash then the flash key serves a very specific purpose which is to take the intensity level of that list or scene to the specified level (usually 100%). The options to "go on flash" or "release on off" are additional options to the flash function which allow the user to also nudge that list or scene into playback. All of these things work together to provide the ability to flash a list or scene (whether HTP or not) from a command key even when it is not attached to a physical master.
