External USB trackballs can be connected to the console via the console's USB ports. Most external USB trackballs are supported only as an external mouse with left and right click capabilities however a select set of trackballs (listed below) are fully supported as functional Hog 4 OS trackballs (support for all four trackball buttons and support for the use of the trackball in both pointer and POS mode):
Kensington Expert Mouse (Model K64325)
Kensington Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball (Model K72352US) - (note: does not have top left and top right buttons)
Hi, I have an Hog4 nano with an Expert Mouse. Model K64325. But I can't figure out how to make it work with the top left and right buttons. The Ball only works as a trackball, I can't put it into POS Mode, and the Bottom buttons are only Left and right click. But the Scroll wheel will scroll up and down the screen. Am I doing something wrong? Need drivers? Need to select the mouse somewhere in Hog? This is driving me nuts.
That trackball mouse will only work as a regular mouse. I talked to highend tech support and they say it's not supported on the PC platform. It's frustrating because you can use that same trackball mouse on the big consoles that already have a built in trackball and they will support an external trackball but not the nano where it's needed most.
Currently the supported external trackball's only work on the RH and Rack Hog. We do have a request to add the support to 4PC. I will make sure to add the comments to the request.
Since the last post is months ago, i'll give it another go.. Is the External Trackball support implemented in 4PC ?? Just yesterday tried the 3.2.0 beta and it's not in there (yet?).... As mentioned above, the PC solution (with or without Nano) is where you really could use this....
I am running hog 4pc 3.6.0 with my hoglet 4. And I am wondering if it is now possible to use a kensington mouse and use it in POS mode. At this point I am thinking about using a trackball mouse or an apple trackpad to use as a mouse on my setup. If it is possible to use a trackball mouse in POS mode than that will be very useful and a good reason to choose one of those...
