Exporting user fixture profile

I need help exporting a fixture profile that I made out to a gz file. I don't want to keep building off the same show. Just need it to be an external file.
  • You cant export to a gz file.
You need to keep a copy of your showfile and merge the missing fixture in from your show.
  • So then what happens when an update happens and my old show file isn't compatible with the new update?
  • Old show files (even back to Hog3) are always compatible with new software releases
  • So why then in the release notes are there notes saying that older versions aren't compatible with the new?

Regardless I shouldn't have to merge shows to get one profile to work.

  • The release note means that you can't load in a complete show file from a previous version and run or edit the show. Merging the shows brings in the data from the old show but creates in within a current-version show file.
  • You can load older shows always, but sometimes not a new one into an old version (like 3.2.1 in a version before 3.1.0)
  • 1) old show files can always load on the most recent software release
    2) show files edited on the most recent software release typically do not load on older releases of software back too far, usually just 1 older release or 2. The release note is telling you how far BACK an edited show on the latest release will work

Nothing new here - this is how H4 has worked since day 1.
  • And on this note... we are looking to improve fixture library building and profile sharing among users. Ideally these profiles should be more exportable, portable, and easier to load... so this is a mission Jon and I have been looking at tackling.
  • 2 years later, the export of a single device is dead
    great work
