Getting Started

I'm doing some research on lighting systems for a HS and wanted to get some information. The school currently uses a basic ETC console but we are looking to migrate to HOG 4 PC. Other than the obvious software, what HES hardware is needed to interface with all the dimmer packs and Intelligent DMX fixtures? Apologies if this is a newbie question but when it comes to HOG I'm a newbie. We will eventually engage a lighting contractor for this but I want to understand the architecture. Thanks

  • You would need minium a single widget to output DMX.
You get more comfort when using wings, playback or programming wings or any combination, like a Hoglet.
A Hoglet also has a superwidget installed, that will give you 4 DMX Outs.
If you need more you can attach more widgets, HOG PC is able to do 8 universes in total on widgets.
If you need more you can connect a DP8K, this will give you 16 universes, 8 of them on 5-pin XLR, all on networkprotocols (sACN and Artnet)
