We have 2 hazers (Jem K1) which we control haze output from the Hog4 lighting console. At the end of the show when we shutdown the lighting console both hazers run at 100% as soon as they loose dmx signal. We have been manually going backstage and proceed to unplug both of the hazers to power them off. I noticed that when we patched the Jem K1 hazers it has a control option to shutdown the fixtures. We have tried this and can't seem to get it to work. As soon as we shut down the board, they both run at 100%. Is there a way to eliminate the need to have to unplug the hazers
You need to have shutdown value set for 3 mins, otherwise it wont shut down. When you just send the shutdown and the turn off the console you will send a dmx of 000, so the shutdown process gets canceled. Also set your manual control to 0 for Haze and Fan
I am having a similar problem as fatmatt86. We run a Hog 4 PC at our church, and our single hazer is a Chauvet Arena 3 hazer. We have 2 faders assigned - one for the intensity of haze, and one for fan speed. When we power down the PC or shut down the Hog 4 application, the hazer fan runs on high until the PC is powered back on and the Hog 4 application is launched and a show selected. No one at the church knows the hog4 system in and out - I was taught basics so I could program lights for services. Anything else I know I've had to learn from the manual, playing around, or from reading this forum. Would someone be so kind as to give a very detailed answer about how and where to set the shutdown values as mentioned by user MLorenz? I would love to not have to have the hazer fan blasting while we're doing system updates or just restarting the PC.
Mlorenz- it sounds like your on to something, and thanks for your help. How do I change shutdown value for 3 mins. Would this be on the K1 Jem hazers or on Hog4pc? I do know that once they are unplugged, they do cycle through a 3 minute shutdown, so I think that may be where I'm messing up. Do I just select the hazers fixture numbers and hit control and press fixture shutdown and wait 3 minutes before shutting the board down, or is there another proper way. Thanks for your help.
A lot of hazers go into a purge/shutdown cycle when they lose DMX. Check your hazer manual. The purge cycle can look like it is running at full, as it is trying to get all the fluid out of the lines.
If that is what is happening, you really need to let it finish the cycle. You can get clogged heat exchangers and other gremlins if they don't get to purge when they want.
For a K1 Channel 1 at 0 and channel 2 at FULL or control channel shutdown. This will put the unit in shutdown. The command shouldn't need to be on for 3 minutes, but the process of shutting down does take 3 min. Or just cut the power and it will use the internal battery and go into shutdown mode then power off.
Cutting the power and letting the internal battery is what we are trying to avoid. unfortunately, the hazers are located high in our building and our scissor lift is in the shop for servicing, so i am unable to see the settings on the physical fixtures themselves. i have tried selecting the fixtures and selecting control/ fixture shutdown, but cant seem to get them to go into shutdown mode, and once i shutdown the board, the hazers switch over and run at 100%. Based on the last suggestion, is there a way to control individual channel numbers on Hog4 or just as a fixture in whole. thanks for your advice.
Running lights for hog4pc for live church band and during performance hazers dont work, however they work sometimes. I'm curious why that is? The hazers are full of liquid as well, and was previously working for the first 2 services, it's just shutdown for 3rd service , help
