[Request] Option To Assign Command Key Dir Item To Playback Buttons

Was just reminded of an idea by another post that would add further customization to our playback on the H4 system...

Right now, we have the ability to customize all of the master playback buttons and primary playback button below the choose key via the cuelist/scene options window. With the great functionality given to the USER KEYS via the command key directory, I was thinking it would be really powerful if we could also assign a command key directory item to the playback buttons via the pulldown menu in each of the cuelist options windows...

This would allow us to customize every single button (except the choose key) on the physical and virtual playback bar to any function we want, just like we do with the User Keys on the right side of the console.

Here is how I can see it being done...

List 1 is on master 1 and you want to use the flash button at the bottom of the master to run anything (Macro, Scene, List or whatever) not associated with list 1. For simplicity sake, lets just say you want to have the flash button at the bottom of the master to release all on one keypress...

1. Create a keypress macro that releases all
2. Move that macro into the command key directory away from your normally used command keys, like on command key page 100.
3. Go into the List options window and in the pulldown menu for the flash button you might find a new option that says "Command Key" and after selecting that option, the user interface would add a small window next to the flash key options in the List options window that allows the user to input a number that corresponds to a command key directory item. By inputting the command key directory item number where you stored your keypress macro, you now have your "Release All" key on your flash button for List 1.

Thoughts comments please...

  • Just realized that, by associating to the command key directory items would basically make a redundant button on the command key pages that would waste space and force the user to tab through unnecessary command key pages thus making it cumbersome.

Maybe there is a more elegant way to give the same customized functionality to the playback buttons without having to use the Command Key Directory? Maybe being able to associate the playback buttons directly to the directory items in the same way the command keys do to macros, lists, groups, scenes... etc... ??

The most elegant method IMHO, would be just to utilize the same syntax as the command keys... Macro1/moveto/flashbuttonlist1
