Sensor 2 to Sensor 3 upgrade

Hello,

I currently have the ETC Sensor 2 in my auditorium. I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade to the sensor 3 without having to upgrade everything. Can we buy each modual and the motherboard and just install it into our sensor 2 rack or are we going to have to buy everything completely new?

Thank you.

  • Hi Cspu,

If you meant with Sensor 2, actually Sensor+ then yes it is possible to upgrade a Sensor+ (and also Sensor Classic) to Sensor3 . History of Sensor was Sensor (Classic), Sensor+ and Sensor3.

Though, this upgrade can't be done by an enduser because some of the electronics in the rack have to change and this should only be done by an Authorized ETC Service Partner. The rack and all the power cabling will remain the same, but the CEM+ processor, the interface electronics for it in the rack and then a few small bits will be replaced.

Your dimmer, relay and other modules can be continued to be used also in the Sensor3 Rack, though then you might be interested in upgrading to the Thrupower Relay Modules which allow 3 functions per control - 1.) Dimmer 2.) Relay for loads like MLs, LEDs, and other nondimmable loads and 3.)Direct Control of Relay on the Module with a physical On/Off Switch. Also consider getting AF Modules (and an AF upgrade for Rack if needed) which allows for module feedback (like current amps being drawn, RCD or CB trip) to the processor and then to the ETC consoles (Eos and Cobalt Family) and also to laptop software Net3Concert when a Net3 Conductor is present.

Please contact an ETC Dealer near you for an offer. A dealer search function can be found at the top of our main website.

If you have any more questions feel free to post again. Have fun with the upgrade!
