Integrating early 2000's Unison system with an Insteon/X-10/Z-Wave server

I know that I can have a Unison Heritage Serial port station installed in our booth to link between the Indigo Mac Pro server and the Unison CMEi controller and that it can receive commands via RS-232 and give feedback. We are looking at the posibility of integrating the two systems so that the Indigo server can tell if the house lights in the sanctuary are online or not and can turn the preset for the house lights off (its the only preset in the Unison system) or on through its remote interface.

Basically what i need to know is can this be done through the RS-232 interface on a Serial Port Station and can you still acquire the serial port stations.

Any and all questions/feedback is welcome.

You can also use a cable to receive and send serial in/out of the rack...only useful if the rack is nearby. I know nothing about Indigo Mac Pro, so I don't know if this is relevant or not.

The Indigo software platform is the server technology on the Insteon/X-10 side.

To elaborate on Bruce's response: there is a serial port built into the CMEi that you could use isntead of the A/V station (assuming there's a reasonable way to get wire to it from your Indigo server within the limitations of RS232). The connector inside the rack is a 3-pin mascon, so an adapter cable (USAP kit) is required to connect. Adding a Serial A/V station would also require changes to the Unison config, so you'll want to contact a dealer in your area for pricing on the hardware and services.

Either approach is capable of doing what you want. See the USAP and Serial A/V programming guides for details on what the commands would look like for each:
