Legacy Unison Upgrade

Hello.

We have a Legacy Unison control system with two Sensor dimming racks. Is it possible to just upgrade the control hardware without updating the dimmer racks?

  • Hi blue2blue,

When you say control hardware, do you just mean the Legacy Unison?
If so the answer is yes it's possibly to only update 1/2 of the system.

Questions thought:  is the Unison Rack in a standalone enclosure on the wall, or is it part of a Dr Rack (Architectural dimmer rack).
    ie....does it look like this:
     or

The upgrade to Legacy Unison would be a Paradigm Processor (ERN-2 or ERN-4).  Paradigm can speak DMX or sACN which depending on how your system is setup is what the Sensor racks use so it can natively control them without having to also upgrade your Sensor racks.

If you were asking can you just upgrade the CEM or CEM+ processor in the Sensor/Sensor+ rack to Sensor 3, no you can't.  Upgrading to CEM3 requires a new backplane and CEM3 processor at the same time.
