Echo Touch Programming Faders

In an Echo Touch video Shawn Fernandez (ETC) remarked that you can control all house lights or certain stage lights from the Echo Touch with a fader.  How do I go about this?  ex.  I have 7 circuits of house lights but would like a single fader to control ALL  7.  Or a fader that has theatrical lights for a "rehearsal" look.  I understand using a Preset with sACN but don't understand how to make a fader control more than 1 device.  Thanks in  advance!

  • Hi there!

I apologize if I made that section a bit confusing and will make sure we clean that up in the future!

In the video I referenced that starting with version 3.2 you can divide house lights, work lights and stage lights on the EchoTouch. While this was possible before, 3.2 meant that you no longer needed a separate DMX Scene Controller. This means that these areas can be split into separate spaces and you can have presets that affect each of those spaces separately. In other words, I could have a preset that sets my house lights to 75% and a different preset that sets my stage lights to a "Talent Show" look and have those two controlled independently.

All that is to say that we don't support groups on faders, at least not yet. It is a high priority feature for us to add, but not something currently available.

I hope that helps! Otherwise, feel free to send me an email if you need more help.

  • Hi Shawn:

I am interested in doing patching multiple channels to a single fader on an Echo Touch, but we are not using DMX.

    Our setup is as follows:
Unison DrD 6 enclosure with 2 D20 dimmer modules and 4 ELV10 dimmer modules, Echo ACP, Echo Power Module
    Echo Touch Mk2.

I was able patch all 12 dimmer channels (1-12 in Space 1), and add faders for channels 1-4 (which are our house lights), and each channel corresponds to one of the dimmer channels in the 2 D20 dimmers.

I see how to do it if we were using DMX, but we're not.   I would like to be able to control all of those 4 dimmer channels with a single fader.  Is this possible?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Hi there! Unfortunately, we still don't have a groups option available, and when we do, they won't support Echo zones, only DMX channels. There is one workaround that comes to mind though:
Do you need to control each of those four dimmers individually from EchoTouch? If not, you can assign them to all be the same Echo zone through the E-ACP. That would mean that controlling Zone 1, for example, would dim all four. They would still maintain individual DMX addresses, so you could control them independently from a console, but the EchoTouch would only be able to control them as a single zone with one fader. Hopefully that helps you here!
