There is no current way to do a backup on the ColorSource console line. If you are in a show scenario that requires a backup, then I would suggest using two nomad dongles and laptop/computer as your console of choice.
For my information, I don't understand your proposition. What do you mean "two dongle and laptop" ?
A dongle is the generic term for a USB key to activate software. Our ETCnomad software is free to download for offline use, but if you plug in an ETCnomad dongle key, your own personal computer can turn into a fully functional lighting console that can run 1 universe (soon to be 2 universes) up to a max of 12 universes if you buy the larger dmx output version. More info can be found here. http://www.etcconnect.com/Products/Consoles/Eos-Family/ETCnomad-ETCnomad-Puck/ETCnomad.aspx
As these are the least expensive "console" options we offer, if you have 2 computers each with their own dongle, you can network them together and actually have a redundant backup which is what user Mido was asking about.
Keeping in mind that ETCNomad is only available for the Eos and Hog product lines. Not for ColorSource
It could be interesting to make the offline PC version of Colorsouce in to a working console using a Nomad dongle and gadget.... in the same way as it does with Element. That would then act as a back up as you could export a complete show from the 'real' hardware Colorsource to the PC version.
That would be potentially handy! I'm sure it would easy enough to implement?
implementing a tracking (i.e. being online and doing everything the master does as well, in real-time) is a hard thing to do and means you have to touch a lot of places in the console. nothing easy about it at all!
Ah yes, I see what you mean if you wanted a 'live' backup. Alternatively just have it as a software version of the desk that could be used standalone. Not so much as a live backup but a swap the cables over and quickly go to the current cue type backup
Ok, I thought I missed essential information, but no! false hopes ... too bad.
Thanks Chris
I will run 2 nomad
Good and cheap
