Color temp changing in cue

Hi there,

I have a bi color lamp that shifts to 5400 K rather than 3200 K when a cue is played on a colorsource 20.  Not sure how to edit that??  The color editor does not seem to affect the lamp.  When not in the cue mode, the lamp is 3200.

Thanks for the advice.

  • One of my students solved this.  We had removed an adjacent defective light fixture but left it's DMX address in the cue.  When the cue ran, the missing lamp was 'turned on' by the console. For whatever reason, it pushed the temperature up on the fixture that preceded it.  Not sure why.  With no cue running, the same behavior happens.  Turn on one lamp, 3200 K.  Turn on the missing next lamp and the color shifts to 5400.

  • It sounds like the problem is that the fixture actually consumes at least one of the DMX slots that are patched to the fixture that was removed.

It's fairly common for bicolor fixtures to have a "color temp select" DMX parameter that overrides everything else, so that's probably it.

In "Patch", the console will warn about patch overlaps that it knows about, however it always believes what it's told so can't warn about fixtures that are patched in a smaller mode than they're really using.
