Personality Editor "Mode" Field

Question

In the Personality Editor is a field named "Mode". I have no idea what value goes in here, but the QR guide says it must be filled in for the console to read the profile. So my question is "What is the Mode field"?

The vast majority of fixtures have multiple "modes" they can be put into that change which how they are controlled and which features are available. 
 Is it very common to have a "Standard" and "Extended" modes, for example. 
 Many fixtures call their modes by the number of DMX slots consumed: "4ch", "10ch", "129ch" etc. 
 The editor requires that you enter something here so you have a note of the right settings to make on your fixture when patching it.
