Abyss 2

Newbie here. Need help patching Chauvet Abyss 2 to ColorSource 20. This instrument is not listed in menu and not recognized by RDM. Is there somewhere to download the profile or ... the Abyss user manual is not helpful, as it seems to be heavily focused on manual use, and not DMX. Thanks.

  • Thank you! Very much appreciated you sending lthe latest fixture library. I was able to get the Abyss 2 in my fixture library and now can control dimming ... however, i'm completely out of my element with how to get the effects to work. I can control them manually on the instrument itself, but don't know how to program the color change and the water effect.  All other instruments i've installed have been LED colorspots, etc and have been quite easy to program. This is the first "moving light" i am installing perhaps, and I am definitely missing some information about about how this works. I've set the Abyss at dmx address 180, and patched it at channel 8. This successfully controls the intensity, but I do not know how to color change or get moving wave effect. I'm embarrassed that i can't figure this out, but there are no tutorials on the abyss, and the users manual is presupposing i know what i'm doing. And I don't. Any further help would be appreciated. Thanks again for your help to this point. If this question is too involved, i understand! All my best.

  • The fixture seems to have a color wheel and an effects wheel accessible via DMX.

You access those via the parameters controls:

For this one, easiest is the "All" tab as it's only got two.

Tap either parameter tile to get a popup to select a 'function'.
Touch and drag the tile up/down to make smaller adjustments like spin speed.

For further info, see the on-console Help via the (?) button, or online version here:

  • Thank you for your reply! I will be at the theater later this week, and will give it a go based on your guidance. I'll be crossing my fingers until then. Thanks again.

  • You sent me in the right direction, and all is working. DMX is now controlling color and effects. Thank you thank you thank you!
