Priority question

Hi all!

I'm about to buy a Colorsource 40 console so have a question regarding the precedence of operating areas.

As it has been mentioned in the manual, the console can only be opearated in HTP mode. So as far as I understand, if you put different effects for the common parameters (ex. X&Y) to all the playback faders and then turn them all on, then you'll get a kinda mixture on the stage. The same is valid for cues being played simultaneously with the playbacks on faders.

The question is whether is that possible to program the console in such way that when you turn off all playbacks and your cue is paused (but not stopped) the stage output would revert to that current active cue.

Thanks in advance

  • The playbacks and cues use HTP Gel Mixing for Intensity & Color Mixing, and LTP for all other parameters.

Each color mixing light behaves "as-if" you had multiple different lights, one each color of the active Playbacks and Cues.

Eg If you have a Yellow Playback and a Blue Cue both up at full, the light will be white(ish).
Take the Playback back down, and the color changes back to Blue - as you've now turned off the yellow light.

Parameters like Pan & Tilt, gobo selection etc use Latest Takes Precedence.

Eg if you play the cue and it aims the light downstage, then raise the Playback which aims it Upstage, it'll point upstage.

When you lower the Playback again:

If the "Parameters on Playbacks: Bi-directional" setting is enabled, the LTP parameters are returned.
If disabled, they stay at the Playback's position.

So, you'll want to enable that setting.

  • Fantastic. Definitely wanna get familiar with the console. It's almost what I need.

Based on your answer, if I have a Blue Cue being played for some rgb lights and then turn on the white sequential chase on one of the playbacks that's been stored in "only touched are stored" mode (if such mode exists), would the lights on stage revert back to blue in sequentially as long as the playback chase is running.

    Thanx
