updating Colorsource 40 AV

Hi all,

I want to update my console (firmware version 3.3.3.12). Regarding the instructions, there should be a .fw file in the update folder that I downloaded. But I'm getting a folder with a bunch of files, no .fw to be seen. The biggest file is called rootfs.squashfs. Is it safe to pick that one as the update-file on the console?

All the best,

Michael

  • I have also tried to download the update - have look in all the files - there is no fw file.
    (on a pc).

  • I've just rechecked the download.

The download for v3.3.3 is called "ETC_CS_Console_3.3.3.12_CS.zip"

    Inside that ZIP there is:

    • A folder called "__MACOSX" that contains some macOS metadata to try to assist our Mac users. Ignore this folder and everything inside it.
Note: This folder is usually not visible on a Mac.

    • A file called "ETC_CS_Console_3.3.3.12.fw".
This is the file you need to copy to your USB stick.

If you do not see the ZIP file, then that likely means your download manager has already unzipped it.
Some versions of macOS Safari do this automatically.

If you see lots of files, that means you have accidentally opened or extracted/unpacked the FW file.
Don't try to repack it, you will need to find the original FW file or download it again.

There are many tools that can unpack the FW file, and some are installed by default on a Mac, so make sure you simply copy it, don't unpack or extract it.
