Have you just received a new Congo jr or Congo Kid console with Cobalt Software on it?

Hi all -

If you have just taken delivery of a new Congo jr or Congo Kid console with Cobalt software on it, you might have read about the ability to switch on startup to the older Congo software. This feature was added so that owners of older Congo consoles could install Cobalt and then go back to Congo in case they had to (for touring guests who are still on the older software, for example). 

We did not plan to install both software versions on new consoles, however we've discovered that this makes it possible for you to try to start as Congo and then get stuck since the Congo software is not available. If you find yourself in this situation, please use the startup switch to return to Cobalt.

If you would like to have this possibility - to start either as Congo v6.4.1 or Cobalt - the best thing to do is to download the Congo v6.4.1 installer and load it onto your console via Cobalt Settings (from the welcome screen). If the installer offers to REPAIR the installation, you will know that you already have Congo installed. Otherwise, follow the instructions in the installer.

    Hi Filip -

    There's information about the new Cobalt consoles on the web site here.

    You can install Cobalt software onto your Congo Kid console free of charge, if you like. If you are looking for pricing of a new console, I would suggest contacting your local ETC dealer for that.

    Thanks for the info.

    I was told that there is also a laptop software that can be installed and used as a console. I guess it was available at the Pro light and sound in Frankfurt for a very good price. Is that right? Is there in anyway the possibility to get this?

    As for my Kid, when I install the Cobalt software, does the original Kid software still work too?

    Hi Filip -

    Please contact your ETC dealer for pricing information on the Cobalt Nomad product.

    And yes, installing Cobalt on your Congo Kid will not affect the Congo software installation (we recommend that you be running v6.4.1 though, as it is the most recent Congo-named release). There are instructions in the software zip file on how to switch back and forth.
