Is anybody else still using a cRRFU on 7.2? [Cobalt on Congo]

Hi y'all,

I've got a remote question, perfect for remote answers :). Is anybody else currently using a cRRFU on Congo hardware with Cobalt version 7.2? This little guy has been our workhorse for years, in our smaller space, like a champ. I just updated two Congo Srs from 7.1 to 7.2 the other day (the space isn't in constant use, and lost the remote. Transmitter transmits, receiver receives, but the remote no longer shows up under Remote Controls > Remote List. And, of course, nothing happens.

Hi Anne,

This is a known issue in 7.2 and a fix is targeted for 7.3. (External triggers and phone remote are also affected on Congo Sr)

HI Anne,

Not that it helps in your situation but we are using the same system successfully on Cobalt hardware with 7.2.
We moved the remote control system over from our old Congo when we upgraded to a Cobalt 20.

I also love the crrfu, have an original version that uses the pin connector, not the USB version. I'm upgrading to a Cobalt 10 soon (yea!), and would love if I could still use it. Is there an adapter to make it USB from the old connector style?

While where aren't any adapters, you could replace the base station as the cRRFU handsets are compatible with both the 6-pin XLR and USB versions of the cRRFU base station.

That said, I'd recommend upgrading to the iRFR or aRFR app (depending on your smart device preference).
The aRFR on a small and cheap tablet works quite nicely.

I would upgrade my basestation. The cRRFU works out of the box and is bullet proof. No WIFI to mess about with, long range and very reliable. Things that can't be said about any smart device remote.... I so wish they would make one like that for EOS, to hand out to sparkies just to bring up channels.....

I do have and use the iRFR, which is great, but when doing quick focuses and up on a ladder I prefer the crrfu because it's so much easier to tactically run through a channel check to find the light and focus quickly. I pull out my iPhone if I need to adjust a device or have a patching issue. I've asked for this before--but if the iRFR had an Apple Watch availability for channel check it would be incredibly handy!

I agree. It's great, just the right size and because I've used it so much I don't even have to look at it when running it anymore. Hard to substitute that.
