Windows System Logs

Yesterday we had one of our congo desks lose its control surface , this we now belive to be a lose power connector.

but it did cause us to look at the windows event veiwer logs , both system and application had large numbers of errors and warning plings.

some were to do with the system being set to look for a NTP server , and our congos are on a closed network so this was never going to happen. but also we had

"The description for Event ID ( 269 ) in Source ( PlugPlayManager ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: The event log file is corrupt."

and a few others

is this right ?

  • Hi, The Event ID 269 is written everytime there would normally have been a driver related popup in Windows (because they are suppressed in Congo). So this is "normal". The popups suppressed were probably related to the plugging in / out of the control surface caused by the loose power connector.
