  • Which "Mode" is the X-Keys running in?

X-Keys can be set up in two different modes - in one it uses a piece of software on the host computer, and in the other it stores everything inside itself.
It should always be running in the latter mode.

From what you've said, it sounds like the X-keys may be running in the first mode, and the control software has been stopped.

The other possibility is that somebody has disabled or set to View Only the Client (Dell laptop) from the Server (Congo console).
In this case, the display will show "Disabled" or "View Only" in the top left, and the Client software will either be completely inactive or only allow you to look-but-don't-touch.
