We have released a PC version of Congo, called PC Congo, that will allow you to use your personal computer running Windows 7 to output data from the Congo software application at full speed. You can read up on the details here. This product is a kit including a USB dongle (to enable the software to act as a server in a lighting system) and a USB memory stick containing all drivers, software and documentation for the product. PC Congo will output from 2 to 4 universes of DMX via Ethernet (sACN or ArtNet).
PC Congo uses the same software as the consoles and can be used stand-alone or as a client or backup to another Congo product (or another PC Congo computer). Contact ETC or your ETC Dealer for pricing information.
Right now we only support Windows 7 machines officially. Yes, we do plan on doing a Mac version in the future, but I don't yet know when that will become available.
Use of PC Congo requires Congo v6.4.1 software on the PC. Use of PC Congo with other Congo products also requires Congo v6.4.1 software on the consoles (the versions must always match among connected products, as usual). Congo v6.4.1 is now available for download here. This version mainly supports PC Congo, but it does fix an issue found in 6.4.0 for consoles - the Gel Picker tab was displaying the gel colors badly (they all look a bit strange and generally brown) - the gel data is being output to devices correctly, this is just a display issue within the Gel Picker tab. If this disturbs you, you can update to v6.4.1. There are no other changes for the consoles in this version, so updating is entirely optional, unless you plan to use PC Congo as a client or backup in your system.
