Networking

Hello, things are getting messy in my head so I need some advice...

I have a Congo, a Net3 4 ports gateway, a laptop with latest NCE installed, and a switch. My questions are :

What IP adresse ranges are for congo? (and a future congo jr as backup as well)

In congo sw 5.0.1 there are 2 buttons in setup that lead to NCE or gateway setup. I can't open them.

which protocol am i supposed to use? Net2 or Net3?

thanks for answering, i will probably have further questions later... ;-)

  • Hello,

For Congos and CongoJr the recomended IP ranges are 10.101.80.101 to 10.101.80.253 and 10.101.81.101 to 10.101.81.253.
So you could make your Congo be 10.101.80.101 and the Jr 10.101.80.102.

The NCE and GCE buttons in Congo Settings in v 5.0.1 are for access to NCE (Network Configuration Editor) or GCE (Gateway Configuration Editor) if these are installed on the Congo. It is possible to install NCE and GCE (when released) onto the Congo and configure nodes from there. But a laptop with NCE/GCE works just as fine.

For now it's probably easiest to use Net2 protocol and configure the Net3 Gateway with NCE. Once GCE is released and you can configure the Net3 Gateway to be in Net3 mode and use sACN/Net3 as the protocol.

    Hope this helps,
