Networking

Hello, things are getting messy in my head so I need some advice...

I have a Congo, a Net3 4 ports gateway, a laptop with latest NCE installed, and a switch. My questions are :

What IP adresse ranges are for congo? (and a future congo jr as backup as well)

In congo sw 5.0.1 there are 2 buttons in setup that lead to NCE or gateway setup. I can't open them.

which protocol am i supposed to use? Net2 or Net3?

  • My two cents:

    If you don't want to worry about IPs in the future and this is an isolated network, I would consider enabling the DHCP (Address Service) located in the Network tab.  As long as the adapter on the laptop and the future backup console is set up to use DHCP everything will happen automatically for you.  Now by default it assigns addresses starting at 10.101.50.101 and goes for 500 addresses.  The recommended IP range is well clear of this, so it shouldn't be a problem.
