Trouble with Offline Editor on OS X

I've installed the offline editor on OS X but none of the keyboard shortcuts seem to do anything (let alone even typing in a login name at the startup screen) any ideas? - the only one that seems to work is the return key.

Also, please note that the numbers for numeric entry are the numeric keypad, and not the numbers above the keyboard - the numbers above the keyboard are master keys 1 thru 10.
This makes it harder to use on some laptops, but means that your muscle memory for number entry remains useful.
