Client Main Playback not refreshing

We are having some problems with our client PC not displaying the correct information on the Main Playback display.

Does this sound like "RND 0001830 In some situations, client consoles refresh slowly when used as clients"?

We are running version 6.0.3 with a client, a file server, and several Net2 nodes.  The communication with the dimmer racks is also on the same ethernet network.

  • Hi Mat,

This sounds like a different problem. Could you give me some examples of missing or incorrect information in the Main Playback view?

Are complete sequence steps missing? Are specific items, like times etc, incorrect? Is there a special situation when it doesn't update properly?

  • Hi Anders,

The problem we're having is that the Main Playback tab on the client will sometimes be in the wrong preset.  We may be in preset 36 on stage but Main Playback will show that we are in 35.  The Live tab has been displaying the correct preset number.  We've also noticed that when we change the time of a sequence step the Main Playback on the client may not display the new time.  This usually corrects itself when we go to another preset.

    Thanks,
    Mat

  • Today the Main Playback displayed the wrong preset after I had gone back 2 presets and forward 1 using the Seq +/- buttons.  It was correct after I did a GoTo for another preset.

  • Hi Mat,

Could you give us some more information about how the client is connected to the server? What kind of hub or switch are you using to connect them together?

  • All of the ethernet connections go through a Linksys EF3124 24 port 10/100 Ethernet Switch.  There is also an ethernet patch panel made by Ortronics.  Ethernet patch points are spread throughout the building.  Also connected to the network are: a PowerDsine 6012 12 port power over ethernet device for our Net2 nodes, an wireless access point (Linksys WRT54G).  For tech rehearsals we hardwire the client through a patch point in the theater to the patch panel and to the switch.  We will use the wireless on the client for events and notes when we have to move around more.  During tech rehearsals we disable the wireless on the laptop using a wireless disable/enable button on the laptop.

    Here are the IPs:
    Congo: 10.201.51.101
    Laptop: 10.201.101.13
    File Server: 10.201.91.15
    Wireless Access Point: 10.201.91.1

  • Do you have the update problems with the client both when it is connected to the switch and when it is connected through the wireless network?

  • We notice it most often when connected to the switch but we are rarely using the wireless when we are in a designer+programmer situation so it's hard to say if the wireless is actaully better or not.
