Congo Jr Master Playback Wings to Mac or PC Software?

Hi there,

We currently have the Master Playback wing connected to a Congo. In the summer season we work in an outdoor venue and we were wondering if it's possible to connect the fader wing to a Mac or PC lighting software instead of the Congo? The reason we would like to do this is we have limited space in the tec booth.

If this is possible what lighting software would you recommend?

  • It is practically certain that no third party software would support the use of a Congo Master Playback Wing. (They have to make their money somehow!)

I would recommend double-stacking the console and wing, one physically above the other.

I've seen a few venues where the Ion or Congo jr 'main module' is on a pull-out drawer under the desk, as they mostly use the faders on the wing(s) and are rather short on booth space.

You could use something like a monitor shelf to put them one on top of the other, monitor to one side with space for the script in front of it.
(This also gives you more space than you'd have with laptop plus fader wing, with a lot more reliability than a laptop of unknown provenance.)

Alternatively, if 20 faders is enough for the summer season then you could use the ETC 1x20 Universal fader wing, which bolts onto the rear edge of the Congo jr so doesn't take up any extra space at all - and would even be slightly narrower than a Master Playback Wing alone for the whole console.

You could then use this wing for an extra 20 physical faders when you're back in your normal venue.
