Independent House Lights etc. . .

So as I see it now, the only way for me to have my houselights independant of the GM or the Blackout button is to make them a custom fixture that has the dimmers controlled by a parameter that is not intensity, and then write a submaster for them that controls that parameter (much the same way our video projector dowser is working now).

Is there any chance that we will get truly independant subs or channels in the near future?

  • Actually, both.  In 1.9.5, two things along this line are being added:

In patch, there is a new attribute called "GM Exempt".  When a channel is set to this mode, intensity values will not be impacted by the following actions:

    Grand Master or Blackout

    Rem Dim

    Go to Cue 0

This is basically the same as our old "independent", but we couldn't call it that, because we use independent as a priority setting for cue lists/submasters.

Additionally, a new priority for submasters called "shielded" is being added.   When a submaster is set to shield, any channels associated with that submaster are not available for manual control.  When the sub is shielded, the "exclusive" flag is also automatically set.   This flag is set via a "priority" setting on the sub.  We've changed the field that used to be "independent" to "priority."  By default, this is cleared, meaning there is no priority on the sub.  Pressing the SK once puts the sub into independent mode, pressing a second time puts the sub into shield mode.

Hope that helps.    1.9.5 will be starting beta shortly.
