Issue Tracking Nested SEMs in Augment3D

Is it possible to track a nested (child) SME where the parent SME has a rotation / movement?

The context for this is an object being tracked on a revolve.

I have set everything up so it's visually working in the Augment3D model, but pointing lights at the SME focus palette of the child object causes the lights to point at the original coordinates, not the live moving object.

I have only been able to work around this by applying a X / Y focus circle effect to the SME channel, but that's significantly trickier to program (it becomes harder to set absolute positions and presetting stationary effects is extremely boring!)

Is this just a current limitation of Augment3D, or am I missing something!?

  • The focus points change with a fixed orientation change of the revolve (ie setting a specific rotation position) however it does not work if I use the continuous rotation parameter by setting a speed. There doesn’t seem to be a reason why Augment3D can’t handle this besides it’s not been written.

The show we needed this for is now open, but we used Lightstrike to actually make the tracking work, with the added bonus of being able to receive the live automation data.
