Exclude from Select Active?

Question

Is there a way to exclude a channel from Select Active? 
 I want my backstage blues to not get grabbed when I select active, but I still want to be able to control them manually by typing the channel numbers explicitly, and I still want to be able to record them into cues. 
 Whether they get grabbed by select all, I can live with either way. It's mostly select active that I'm worried about.

Have you considered a Macro to Select Active - your Blues. As an example.... 
 "Select_Active - Group 9" - where Group 9 is your blues. You could then assign that macro to one of your face panel macro buttons.

SelectActive SelectActive will write Select NonSub Active. So if your blues are on because of a sub they will not be selected. 
 
 Another workflow we've seen is using a dedicated group to be excluded from SelectActive. Just like RobertP suggested, but instead of using the group of your blues you could have a group that's specific to this purpose. It might include blues, work lights, conductor special, orchestra.
