Shift key not functioning

Just bought a used console. My shift key is not functioning at all. Is there any software reason that this would be the case? The desk is running 2.3.3. Hoping to avoid having to send it back in, but not optimistic.

Exit to,she'll, maintai nance, facelpanel test.
Does the shift key show up there if you press it? If not, might be a hardware problem. Maybe just need cleaning.... (The key)
