Chauvet Rouge 3 spot problems

Good evening all.
I have just helped a friend hang some new Rouge 3 spots(25ch mode) and have found something strange.
For control we are using ETC Nomad with Ver 2.7.4
We have found the pan/tilt is 90deg out so when I pan it tilts and tilts when panned.
The orientation is display facing the audience when hung.
We have also found the colour wheel is out by one colour so when we select red in the ML controls we get Yellow.
These are straight out of the box today with no prior usage except factory testing.

Does any one have any ideas what is going on?

Geoff

  • If you really have hung them facing the audience rather than hanging down, it could look like pan and tilt are transposed if you have the fixture rotated buy 90 degrees.

Alternatively you simply have swap pan/tilt set on the patch.

Either way toggle the pan/tilt swap to fix the issue.

  • We also have a problem with the colours not corresponding with ML page on Ion Xe for Chauvet Rogue 3 Spot. My posts to forum were unresolved so I created my own profile swapping the colours around. Colours are now ok.

  • Hi Geoff,

I was able to find the DMX chart for the Chauvet Rogue 3 Spot online and compared it to the Eos profile available in current fixture library software. It looks like the profile is written correctly with DMX channels 1 and 2 dedicated to Pan/Fine Pan and DMX channels 3 and 4 dedicated to Tile/Fine Tilt. I see in the Setup section of the manual you can reverse Pan and Tilt parameters from the fixture. Please make sure that these settings have not been altered as well.

In reference to the color wheel, are you finding Color Select 1 or Color Select 2 is off by one color? Does the fixture default correctly to a white, "open" state? It may be helpful to call in to ETC Technical Support while in front of your console so that we can test any inconsistencies between your console and the manual.

  • What I mean is they are hanging straight down with the display facing the audience so the cables come out the back of them. The handles are next to the batten. I hope this makes sense.

  • Hi Therese,

The colour wheels defult to Open white but after that they are wrong. as for a call to tech support it does not really work for me as I am in Australia so we only have support during local working hours unless we can use skype or something like that.

As I said the lights are straight out of the box and hung, patched and flashed. I think a custom profile might be in order for me.

    Regards

    Geoff

  • Might have to do this too Dave. it will be a good experience to do such a thing.

  • The Pan/Tilt you can fix without changing the profile,  (you probably know this but)  just in the patch screen with the fixture select click on  attributes at the bottom left.

You can also create/edit a colour wheel there so you may not need to create a custom profile at all.

  • Thanks Mike,

It seems like you learn something new every day and this is what I learnt today. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Hi Geoff,

Looking through the User Manual, I cannot find any descriptions of what gels correspond to the Color #s available in the Color 1 and Color 2 parameters. If the virtual wheel attached to the fixture is not true to your fixtures, I think Mike's suggestion of creating/editing a color wheel in Patch - Attributes will be most helpful.

    Therese

  • I fixed the problem by editing the color wheels.  In attributes, copy the color wheel selected for wheels 1 and 2.  You will be able to edit the colors once you have copied the color wheels. In the 25 channel mode, the profile color wheel 1 is now:  frame 1 - 04 04 (yellow), 2 - 05 05 (light blue), 3 -  is correct, 4  - 01 01 (Red), 5 - 06 06 (Magenta), 6 - 07 07 (Dark blue), 7 - 02 02 (orange).

    Color select 2 is now: 1 - correct, 2 - correct, 3 - 12 12 (green), 4 - 13 13 (Dark blue), 5 - 10 10 (Orange), 6 - 11 11 (Light Pink), 7 - 05 05 (Light blue).

You can edit the name of copied color wheel so you know it is for the Rogue R3 spot.

  • I ended up doing this. The pan and tilt thing I think is caused by the home location being 90deg out. Hangs so the yoke means tilt will be SR\SL and not DS\US.
