Trying to combine a dimmer and a seperate DMX Device on one channel

Just make a trivial fixture profile with Dmx 1 as the intensity and dmx 2 as any of the other attributes that sound sensible for the dowser. Then patch a channel to the dmx address of the lamp and make sure the dowser is set to the next address. Then you will have a channel with two parameters Intensity and the other one for the dowser

Or you could make it a chanel with two parts. When controlling it later it doesn't make a difference,but the advantage of parts is that you can use DMX addresses that are not next to each other.

02.4 Patch a Multi-Parameter Device

This was what I needed to do and was trying, but finally figured out it was a simple identification problem I was having Had to re-assign the "identity"  of one of the parameters as it was thinking both were the same.
