We're coming up for our first update and somewhat nervous. Currently running v2.7.2 software and v1.0.0 firmware so ETC service recommended we upgrade to software v2.7.4 and firmware v1.0.1. Visiting the ECT Site I can see version 2.8.3 release notes but not how to download it. The firmware does not look like it has changed with the original suggestion so would we need to take any more steps to install it. Is the 2.8.3 still at the same firmware level? And if we do have to update the firmware at any time I'm still not sure of how best to achieve this.
(This example is for an Ion...the process is pretty much the same on all Eos family consoles, but you can also search for "update gio software" for example on the support site.)
The firmware will be part of the software installer. There will be a prompt during start up IF a firmware update is necessary, which can be ignored if you want. If no prompt appears, no firmware changes are necessary.
Give ETC Tech Service a call if you need guidance through that process.
Thanks Mathias, printed that out and off to venue in an hour.
