Sensor wiring test module

Just a notion that occurred to me while doing a pile of insulation testing for an install.

UK (And I suspect most other) licensing authorities want to see periodic inspection and test reports for electrical installations which include insulation tests. It would be nice to be easily able to do these from the rack room (for dimmer output circuits) rather then from the final output circuit outlet location which is often up in the roof.

If a sensor module was available (this would be best on neutral disconnect dimmers) that just terminated the  outgoing wiring to a pair of shrouded 4mm sockets (and provided an earth terminal), then doing these tests would amount to walking the module down the rack frame and pushing the test button on an attached tester. On a large installation, this would save a great deal of time.

Of course, the really ideal thing would be to have a module with the tester integrated right into it, so one button would run a 500V insulation test on the outgoing wiring and display the result on an LCD......

Something like this might actually make neutral disconnect modules cost effective in a 230/400V market (It would save time, and force annual module removal which would only be a good thing from a maintenance perspective) .

Regards, Dan.
