Children's Museum

OK I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this question but it seems liked the best place for it. I am working with a Children's Museum on re designing their theatre; lighting has never been my strongest front so I’m a bit lost. We will have 12 Led par cans (6 front light 2 on stage left 2 on stage right and 2 above the stage) during the day we need an interface that the children can use to have the lights fade from 30%-80% and change the colors of the lights from some pre programmed colors. However that is all they should be able to do. On occasion we will need the program to be a normal lighting control for events and small productions in the space. What is the best way to make this happen? Right now I am thinking a PC based set up with a key board the kids can use to change the colors and maybe arrows for intensity. I am open to any and all ideas.

  • I would use a touchscreen for the kids and a full console for the shows. Paradigm has a huge range of interface/configurations options that can all go away with a straight DMX/sACN/ArtNet input.

The kids will know phone touchscreens and will be very familiar with basic button/select input interface. The Paradigm color picker is very kid friendly. If the console (smartfade or element/ion) input is given a higher priority or the booth can disable the touch screen then they can freely do whatever is needed for a show. This is why Unison was created!
