Separate RSS feeds

I thought I was subscribed to the ION/EOS console forum, but I consistently gets info about all of the other consoles.  Weeding through all of the posts about other consoles sort of defeats the purpose of using the RSS reader for efficiency.  I'd love to see the RSS feed broken down further to each console.

  • Howdy BlueOz;

    I'm Cori, the developer responsible for ETC's Community, and I've confirmed, as well as I can, that this is not a problem with the Community Server forums, but is instead an issue in Google Reader, so unfortunately I must agree with John's suggestion - if you want to see the posts from a single forum then for the time being you'll have to choose a different aggregator to do so.

    I've subscribed to this rss feed and a couple of others for the last week or so, and while Google Reader continues to show posts leaking from other forums, I have not seen those posts in the XML source of the rss feeds that Community Server publishes, nor have I seen the leaking posts in any of several desktop aggregators, nor in a couple of online aggregators.

    I've posted a message to Google's Reader Help group with a few more details - if you're interested in those details and/or what additional troubleshooting I've done you can take a look there [http://groups.google.com/group/google-reader-troubleshoot/browse_thread/thread/c56ffa87571e01c], or contact me here or directly through my profile.

    Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

  • Just to let you know I am also having this problem with leaking posts from other forums and I don't use Google Reader .. I use mac Mail

  • Hey Craig;

    That is good to know - can you tell me which forums you're having similar problems with?

  • Hi Cori,

    I'm subscribed to the "The Congo Forum (and Congo jr, too!)" forum and I constantly received posts from other forums ... mainly the EOS/ION forum.

    Cheers

  • Great, Craig, thanks.  I'm going to try subscribing to that forum in both Outlook and Mac Mail and see if I can reproduce that behavior - it'll take a few days before I have enough data in either place to see anything important.

  • Hi,

    I've also had a problem with the RSS feeds ever since the last community upgrade some months ago. And I'm using Firefox3's bookmarkbar for the feeds. I have pretty much all forums there. Feeds from the blog seem to be stable, but feeds from the different consoles forums are leaking all the time. Sometimes I can fix one feed by refreshing it from Firefox, but sometimes that doesn't work. Sometimes the feed shows only old messages (not the newest ones) till I refresh the feed (which might fix it).

    There were no problems with the feeds before the community upgrade.

  • Thanks Oskar; When you say you're using the Bookmarks Bar do you mean the built-in Live Bookmark facility, or a specific plugin? cori
  • Hey all

    I did make a change on the back end yesterday that's intended to resolve a known Community Server bug that might be related to the problem we're seeing.  No confirmation from them yet as to whether it's actually related, and it'll take a few days to see (at least in Google Reader) whether it has any effect, although it seems that Firefox LiveBookmarks look better after the change.

    Please let me know if you notice an difference.
