iPad, Landscape mode, and iRFR

Hi,

So first off I want to say that I absolutely love the new version of iRFR for the iPad and iPhone! The GUI has greatly improved, the reliability is stellar, and the new features are great like notes in the cue stack.

But, I feel as one thing is missing however; on the iPad specifically when you turn your iPad to the side to go into landscape mode, the iRFR does not do anything.

Would it be possible for a next update to possibly make it so when you turn the iPad into landscape mode the iRFR controls goes with it? Specifically because people who are using the Apple branded iPad case, the only way to use the case on a flat surface is to use it in landscape mode and its definitely more convenient to use it in landscape mode.

I hope this will be considered or has already been considered! :)

Thanks,

Jared Ross

  • Hi Jared,

Yes, we are intending to support all orientations shortly.  We have received a lot of feedback about how important that is, and you'll be interested to know that Apple has, in fact, demanded that our app support all orientations :)

  • Great news Chris!

And that sounds very similar to Apple's view on all of their apps :)

Any idea when this will be released?

  • Soon, Apple does a good job at making these kind of cosmetic fixes easy for developers :)

  • Very true! Apple though it sometimes makes it hard to submit, after working on a couple of Apps, that were developed on the iPhone and the iPod, porting them over to iPad and including all orientations was very easy and seamless, very similar to most aspects of Apple :)

  • Hi,

I wanted to tag along with Jared on his thoughts about the iRFR.... I LOVE using the iRFR on both my iPhone and my iPad!!  I use my phone on a daily basis to bring up channels for focus or notes.  It's so much nicer than having to run back to the console every time someone needs a light.

I do have a few suggestions/wish list items for a future update....

    1) Adding a 'Calibrate' feature!!.... sometimes you can't see the scroller from the desk, it would be amazing to have remote calibration.

    2) Is there a way to bring up an Address from the iRFR?

    3) Now that Apple has released multitasking... would it be possible to have the iRFR run in the background??  It's a little frustrating to reconnect all the time.  I totally get reconnecting after a long period of no use, but it would be nice if it could stay active while you check a email or text...

    4) Is there a way to 'Go to Cue' 'x' in a specified time??

I think those are the only major things I've come across so far.  Like I said before, I'm extremely happy with what the app can do, and what it does for me daily!

    Thanks!

    Travis
