Yeah, my experience with PC touch devices is that you must have some kind of window open (pallets, output, programmer etc) on the displays or the front panel will stop responding.
Very repeatable problem. You can hit "close all" and after a click or two on the front panel, it will become unresponsive, open "pallets" view and everything becomes fine again.
