No DMX Window feedback without output devices in v3.14.0

Hi guys,

I’ve just had to make use of my Nomad dongle for the very first time in my hotel room running Hog 4PC v3.14.0, doing what I used to do perfectly fine without in v3.13.1.

I often check fixture library files, and build them for people, but I need to check how well they're working in the DMX window.

If I do not have a widget/dongle attached, or connected to a visualiser, I cannot get any feedback in the DMX window.

In previous versions (v3.13.1 and earlier), just turning on the visualiser stream (no connection required to a visualiser) was sufficient to populate the DMX window for additional DPs.

I feel like one of the major reasons for using Hog PC, as an offline editor has been compromised here with the new Processor Mappings workflow.

Hi Maegan, what it “should do” and it what it is doing are different. The only way I can see values changing in the DMX window is to add widgets or Nomad dongles.

Having ArtNet mapped, vis stream on is not doing this. What I do see is that in DMX window when I open it and select the Visualiser processor, the window is blank. If I drag over addresses, a 0 appears, but changing fixture values in the programmer is not causing the values in the DMX window to change.

This is very interesting...

So as mentioned above at first DMX window was empty. I had to drag over the cells for values to appear but those values wouldn’t change.

After then closing and reopening the window, only then did it start to work normally.... hmmm

A little more info...

I just started a brand new show. The option for a visualiser processor only appeared in the drop down menu of the DMX window after I had been into Visualiser Settings and made a change and pressed apply. I didn’t connect to any visualiser, I just needed to change something. Until I did that, it wasn’t visible.

I think that’s the issue... as once I did that, then the DMX window behaved normally.

FYI, I’m now trying this on v3.15.0 beta 2, Windows running in Fusion virtual machine.
