Colour in v4.11 V Colour v3.21

Hello,

I have not used SW 4.0 yet and am looking for some advise about how the new colour engine works and handles fixture information/palettes.

Has anyone successfully merged or imported a showfie that has global colour information from 3.21 to 4.2.1? I have several show files that have a lot of colour information that i would like to retain but don't fully understand if that will be possible or will i end up just chasing my tail and having to record all the palettes again anyway?

Can someone explain how the new colour engine works in reality?  I've read the manual but have not exactly found it very clear about how to record simple global colour palettes for fixtures and even less so when dealing with CTO/CTB colour information.

Any advice or help appreciated,

Regards Cormac

  • Hi Cormac, apologies for your frustrations and the delay in responding.  It's hard to say definitively if the global color palettes will translate over and match perfectly.  I have seen many that work flawlessly, and others with less-than-stellar results.  The ability to "knockout" individual parameters in color is no longer available after 4.0.

  • Hi ,
    Appreciate the reply.
So if I can't knockout individual parameters in colour how
do I record just the CTO/CTB/CTT values of a fixture without including
    the v parameters or s parameters ?

If I'm asked for a colour temperature value and then want to add cyan or any palette colour
how do I now do that in v 4.0 onwards.

    Thank you
