I kind of agree... but sometimes I feel It is better to have it the slower way (update, enter). I usually need that little moment to make sure that I have the correct options. I'm pretty sure I would make more mistakes if updating is too easy. But update update would not be bad as an option.
I wonder if something like an option that allows you to confirm things are not:
Turn option on to go with an update for those who feel confidant with edits and an option to keep it as it is as a safety barrier for us older folk with bad memories.
Perhaps a global function to prompt for conformation's or not.
My last console make had 3 global options which worked well.

Another option would be to have the Update window appear only while the Update key is held. This is already used for the Delete command bar and works very well. It's also faster and safer than any other key combination (I always hold Delete when pressing, just to double check. Tapping backspace at this point cancels the action).
