Hedgehog 4X not fully releasing Ovation H-605FC

I have a Hedgehog 4X and just recently ran the software update to get to v4.2.1 (b3764). I'm using about 20 Chauvet Ovation H-605FC fixtures as overhead house lights. When I release those lights either by clearing the programmer or releasing a cue they are associated to or doing Hog+release, they remain stuck with about 5% intensity. No other parameter is stuck. No other fixture experiences this same issue.

Looking at the programmer, nothing is active. The default state of those fixtures is 0% intensity and all parameters are set to be releasable. They are running in 10 channel mode, with the fixture set to 10 channel and the profile loaded as 10 channel. It's like they are getting ghost intensity.

The signal goes from Hedgehog via ArtNet cat cable to a Martin Ether2DMX8. Out of the Ether2DMX8 is a DMX cable running to a Pathway DMX splitter. The splitter has 3 DMX lines running to the various fixtures and then daisy chaining around. I have terminators at the ends of the runs. Every run is experiencing the same ghost intensity issue.

I've tried power cycling the Hedgehog, the Ether2DMX8, and the Pathway splitter. Nothing makes a difference for this issue. I believe this started after the software update to v4.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do next to fix this?

Equipment summary:

  • Hedgehog 4X with v4.2.1 (b3764)
  • ArtNet connection to Martin Ether2DMX8
  • DMX connection to Pathway DMX Splitter
  • Chauvet Ovation H-605FC lights in 10 channel mode with the matching 10 channel fixture profile loaded
  • Terminators at the ends of the runs

  • I'd open the DMX window and look at the first channel where the fixture is passed - the first channel is intensity. If that channel is NOT zero, the Hog is at fault. At that point I'd start a new show and see if it can occur with a new show. Maybe the show you are working with has a parked value or default values changed.

  • Thank you for the reply! It sent me down the right rabbit hole. At least well enough. When I looked at the DMX values, nothing was strange. Except I see that the second value is set to 100%. That corresponds to "Constant" (see the fixture parameters below). When I manually override this to 0 in the DMX values page, the fixture works as expected: no colors or intensities remain slightly on after releasing.

I haven't quite wrapped my mind around which parameters correlate to "constant" or not. But I would like to find out since I don't love having one channel of one set of lights always manually overridden. Do you have any suggestions on this?
